Geometric coverlet, summer & winterEntry/Object ID
2017.1.184Description
Geometric summer and winter coverlet with no borders or fringe. Large and small table motifs combine to create the illusion of large circles in the centerfield pattern. This coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. The weave structure combines undyed cotton plainweave ground cloth with dark blue wool pattern weft. The pattern has four blocks and requires a 6-shaft loom.
One edge has a deep hem made by the addition of a piece of the same pattern, possibly cut off the coverlet at one time.Collection
