This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by Daniel Bury in Cornersburgh, Youngstown Township, Mahoning County, Ohio in 1849. The two cornerblocks read "Daniel Bury Cornersburgh Ohio 1849."
The coverlet was woven full-width and has no center seam. It has a grapevine centerfield pattern that repeats horizontally four times. It has an architectural border on the sides with birds, American flags, and the slogan "Pluribus Unum." The bottom border has distelfinks and rosebushes. The coverlet has a red wool pattern on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses undyed cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.Collection
