Description
Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Center seam joins two panels. Hemmed top and bottom, fringed sides and bottom (bottom fringe is sewn on). Central motif consists of square floral medallions composed of diamond and four circular flowers at each corner. Inside the diamond is a floral motif. Separating the squares are horizontal and vertical bands filled with floral motifs. At each intersection there is a circular motif. Two borders are along three sides and flank the corner blocks. The inner border is a repeated floral motif with scrolling leaves on either side. The outer border contains a tulip and swag design. One corner block contain the woven text; the other has a floral motif.
