This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by Henry Oberly in Womelsdorf, Berks County, Pennsylvania for A. Bechtel. It is undated. The two cornerblocks read "Manufactured by Henry Oberly Womelsdorf Penn. A. Bechtel" with a turkey and rooster logo. The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a large floral centerfield pattern of cabbage roses with rosebuds; the pattern repeats horizontally twice. It has wide borders of tulip medallions and fronds on the sides and ferns, roses, and partial acorn stars on the bottom. The coverlet has red pattern wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and applied fringe on the bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses blue cotton supplementary tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.Collection
