This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by Daniel L. Myers in Bethel Township, Berks County, Ohio for Martha Verdier in 1842. The two cornerblocks read "Made by D. L. Myers Bethel Township for Martha Verdier 1842." The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a "Lilies of France" centerfield pattern with sunburst motifs; the pattern repeats horizontally four times. It has a distelfink & rosebush border on the sides and bottom. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red, orange, dark blue, and green wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses undyed cotton tie-down threads in a 4:1 warp ratio.Collection
