This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by Benjamin Lichty in Bristol, Wayne County, Ohio in 1853. The two cornerblocks read "B. Lichty Bristol O. 1853." The coverlet was woven full-width and has no center seam. It has a patchwork centerfield pattern of stars, double flowers, and pointed hexagonal patches, which repeats horizontally four times. It has a solid rose border on the sides and a leaf garland border on the bottom, with a small star edge underneath. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red, dark blue, and green wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses light blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.Collection
