Description

Beiderwand; red, natural, light blue, navy; fringe on 3 sides; 2 loom widths joined; border on 3 sides with distelfinks and rosette trees; 2 corner blocks with inscriptions; center floral clusters of star like flowers The coverlet is signed "John B. Welty" and dated 1845, but Welty died in 1841. This coverlet was likely woven by his widow, Catharine, or possibly by his former neighbor George Oertell.
