This figured & fancy coverlet has unsigned floral cornerblocks in each of the four corners. The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a floral centerfield pattern with birds, which repeats twice horizontally. The coverlet has architectural borders on all four sides depicting a capitol building with a fence and trees; it may be the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio that opened to the public in 1857.
The doubleweave structure combines a layer of undyed cotton with a layer of red and dark blue wool. It has self-fringe on the sides and bottom.Collection
