This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by John Glassley in Mount Joy, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The inscription along the bottom border reads "Latest stile [sic] warranted, Made by John Glassley Mount Joy Lan Co PA." It repeats twice, mirrored on each half. The coverlet was woven full-width with no center seam. It has a center medallion pattern with doubled curling leaves in a rectangle. It has a border of pinwheel flowers and leaves on all four sides. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red, blue, and green wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and applied fringe on the bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses blue cotton tie-down threads in a 3:1 warp ratio.Collection
