Description

Figured coverlet; undyed and blue cotton and blue wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Coverlet has two panels joined by a center seam. Hem on top is turned under and stitched closed; fringe on sides and bottom. Central motif is a variation on four roses set on point that alternate with stylized thistle. Woven text in bottom corners. Border consisting of pairs of birds flanking trees is on bottom and sides. A secondary border is on the outer edge and contains a row of eight pointed stars.
