Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and dark red, tan, and gold wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Top hemmed, sides and bottom fringed. Central motif is an oval center medallion with a starburst in the center surrounded by two foliage and floral designs. The outer foliage design is elliptical and reaches the sides and top and lower borders. There are spread eagles on the four corners. Coverlet has a wide border of grapes and grape leaves on the two sides, and a rose, leaf, and urn design on the lower border along with the two corner blocks.
