This figured & fancy coverlet was likely woven in a Pennsylvania manufactory ca. 1850-1870. It has no inscription. The coverlet was woven full-width with no center seam. It has a center medallion pattern with a central star in a rectangle on an abstract geometric background, with elaborate borders on four sides of turkeys, deer, capitol buildings, grapevines, and oak leaves with acorns. The coverlet has red wool pattern on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and applied fringe on the bottom. The true Beiderwand weave structure uses tan cotton tie-down threads in a 4:1 warp ratio.Collection
