This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by Peter Warner in Lineboro, Carroll County, Maryland for M. Zouck in 1848. The two cornerblocks read "P. Warner Carroll County MD 1848 M. Zouck." Below the cornerblock and repeating across the bottom border is the inscription "Beauty Patent." The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a floral centerfield pattern of double leaf medallions that repeats horizontally four times. It has a border of deer and trees on the sides and bottom, edged with a geometric lattice of small stars on the outer edge of the borders. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red and dark blue wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and applied fringe on the bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses light blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.Collection
