This figured & fancy coverlet was woven in Bergen County, New Jersey for Ellen Winner in 1837. The two cornerblocks read "Ellen Winner 1837" and the cornerblocks on other end contain a sunburst logo. The coverlet was woven full-width and has no center seam. It has a center medallion pattern of flowers and fruit featuring pineapples, pears, cherries, and apples. It has an inner border of leaves and flowers and an outer border of trumpet flowers. The coverlet has a light side and a dark side with self-fringe on the top and bottom edges. The doubleweave structure combines a layer of undyed cotton with a layer of dark blue wool.Collection
