Description
This figured & fancy coverlet is attributed to Frederick Uber. It was woven in Middletown, Frederick County, Maryland and is undated. The two cornerblocks read "Middletown Fredk. County Maryland."
The coverlet was woven full-width and has no center seam. It has a "double rose" centerfield pattern of with flower blossoms; the pattern repeats horizontally four times. It has a grapevine border on the sides and bottom. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of pink, dark blue, and green wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses light blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.
