This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by Thomas Weber in N. Emmaus, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania in 1837. The two cornerblocks read "Made by T. Weber N. Emaus for [client blank] 1837." The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a double leaf centerfield pattern with swags, diamonds, and flower blossoms; the pattern repeats horizontally four times. It has a distelfink and leaf border on the sides and bottom. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red, dark blue, yellow, and gold wool on undyed cotton ground with applied fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses undyed cotton tie-down threads in a 3:1 warp ratio.Collection
