This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by Daniel Snyder in Hanover Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania in 1838. The four cornerblocks read "Daniel Snyder Hanover Tounschip [sic] Nort. Co. 1838." The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a patchwork pattern of circular and square star medallions, 8-pointed patches, and small double lilies that repeats horizontally four times. It has a solid rose border on the sides and a distelfink & rosebush border on the bottom. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red and dark blue wool on undyed cotton ground with applied fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.Collection
