Unsigned red and green wool coverlet; 12 inch border.
This figured & fancy coverlet was likely power-woven in a manufactory ca. 1850-1880. It has no inscription. The coverlet was woven full-width with no center seam. It has a center medallion pattern with triangular check background with a wide acanthus leaf border on all four sides. The coverlet has self-fringe on the sides and applied fringe on the bottom. The power-woven doubleweave structure has relatively balanced layers of red wool and green wool.Context
