Description

Figured tied beiderwand coverlet with borders on three sides and self-fringe on both sides and bottom. Two panels joined by a center seam. Red, navy, and light green wool with undyed cotton. Double rose and tulip medallion lattice centerfield pattern; distelfink and rosebush border on sides; rose, vine, and geometric border on bottom. Woven by Christian K. Hinkel for Martha Koontz in 1851.
