Description

Extremely worn coverlet made by Lewis Weighley. The centerfield pattern is window tile and the border pattern is distelfink and rosebush. The coverlet was woven full-width and has no center seam and no fringe. The window tile centerfield pattern repeats horizontally four times. It has borders on the bottom and sides. The coverlet has pink, brown, ochre, and light blue wool pattern on undyed cotton ground. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses a 2:1 warp ratio. The two cornerblocks read "Made by Lewis Weighley [ ]"; the date (if present) is illegible due to heavy wear.
