Description

This figured & fancy coverlet was woven by William Lowmiller in Muncy Borough, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The two cornerblocks read "Muncy Boro. Ly. Co." The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a floral tile centerfield pattern with clover motifs; the pattern repeats horizontally four times. It has a tulip tree border on the sides and bottom with a narrow outer border of solid diamonds. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of red and navy wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses light blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.
