Description

This figured & fancy coverlet has a peacock logo in the bottom cornerblocks. Based on the style and pattern, it can be attributed to Berks County, Pennsylvania. The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a tulip star centerfield pattern with double rose motifs that repeats horizontally twice. It has a floral architecture border on the sides and a plume and rose border on the bottom. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of navy, red, and light green wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and applied fringe on the bottom. The tied Beiderwand weave structure uses light blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.
