Power-woven coverlet with turkey logo, true beiderwandEntry/Object ID
CDP 26.5.072Description
This figured & fancy coverlet was likely power-woven in a Pennsylvania manufactory ca. 1850-1880. It has no inscription.
The coverlet was woven full-width and has no center seam. It has a center medallion pattern with a central flower in a box and floral wreath on a diamond check background, with an elaborate floral border on all sides and turkeys in the four corners. The coverlet has horizontal color stripes of navy, red, and green wool on undyed cotton ground with self-fringe on the sides and applied fringe on the bottom. The power-woven true Beiderwand weave structure uses light blue cotton tie-down threads in a 2:1 warp ratio.Context
