Band Uniform Cap, c. 1940s

Name/Title

Band Uniform Cap, c. 1940s

Description

A khaki band uniform hat cap, circa 1940s, made by Pettibone. Believed to originally have been a Michigan State College marching band uniform from the 1940s and when the SMB got green and white uniforms in 1952 the khaki uniforms were given to the Lansing VFW Band directed by Henry Nelson. The name Jess Stokesbury is written inside the hat also. See attached obituary. The name "L. Falcone" is also written inside the hat, indicating that it was likely worn by Leonard Falcone as director of bands when the uniforms belonged to Michigan State. From the Charles Ross collection.
