2010.1.474(C.1)Description
A mechanical gold standard money medal used in the 1896 McKinley Pesidential campaign, which reveals two different sayings. When the mechanism is in a stationary position, the front has a picture of an eagle and text that reads, "I'm all right." "Pat APP-D For." (Patent applied for.) The back reads "Sound Money Means A Dollar Worth, 100 Cents. McKinley, Hobart And Prosperity." When the mechanism is turned to the right, the front now reads, "Where Am I At?" and the eagle's head and wing bend to the right. The back reads "Free Silver Means A Dollars Worth, 50 Cents. Bryan, Sewall And Adversity."Collection
