Based on the journal of Daniel May, shopkeeper in Poland, Ohio and brother-in-law of William McKinley, Jr. This book details the years 1855 through 1871. It gives a good description of life in Poland during the time that William McKinley's family lived there. Especiallly helpful is the description of William McKinley's life as a Union soldier (1861-1865), as it is based on letters Major McKinley wrote home.
The book is hard bound, wiith a dust jacket. The front of the dust jacket consists of a sepia-toned photo of President McKinley with the title in gold letters across the bottom of the photo. The author and editors' names are in white, surrounded by a grey-green background, at the bottom of the page. The back of the dust jacket is of the same grey-green, and contains a brief synopis of the book. Publisher's logo as well as the book's ISBN and bar code are at the bottom.
