2015.2.01eDescription
Postcard booklet of eight black and white McKinley-related postcards. This is the fifth card. The front shows an image of "Sir William McKinley" in his Knights Templar regalia. The back has space on the right for handwriting an address and a marked place for postage.
The text on the right reads as follows:
"Office of the Admiral of the Navy. Washington, D.C., Jan. 29, 1914. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Wess, Niles, O. I can conceive how discouraging a single-handed effort must be for a public spirited, patriotic citizen to attempt such work as the restoration of the birthplace of our beloved President McKinley. Every citizen should heartily endorse any movement to secure n everlasting reminder of that great soldier, statesman, and president. I fell honored having my photograph in his birthroom, and feel much pleasure in knowing that it was placed there by Mrs. Helen McKinley. George Dewey."Collection
