This is a celluloid, metal and cloth convention badge. At the top of the badge is a bar made of ivory celluloid trimmed in copper in a decorative pattern. The word "Guest" is written in brown (?). Attached is a navy blue ribbon with words in gold that read "40th Annual Convention. Ohio State Master Plumbers. Feb. 3-4-5, 1931." Hanging from the ribbon by a metal chain link is a copper medal with a picture of the McKinley Monument in Canton, Ohio etched into the metal. The medal is shaped like a pear or teardrop. The words "McKinley Monument" are inscribed above and "Canton, Ohio" below. The badge is pinned to a 2 1/4 inch x 5 inch piece of cardboard. On the front bottom part of the cardboard is the name of the manufacturer, "Bastian Bros. Co., Rochester , N. Y. Along side of the union label printed below these words is the number 19. "Badges, Buttons, Metal and Celluloid Novelties, Gold and Silver Emblems" is written below the label. The reverse side of the ribbon is plain. On the back of the medal, the words "Bastian Bros. Co." are the only words that can be clearly read, although there are other illegible markings. The back of the cardboard is plain.Collection
