McKinley Tomb Fundraising Button, Canton.Entry/Object ID
2010.1.2217aDescription
This is a round celluloid and metal button, 7/8 inches in diameter, with a picture/sketch of President William McKinley's Tomb in black with an off white background. The word "Canton" is written in black below the tomb. The other side of the button has a metal stick pin for attachment. There is a "Union Made" label stamped into the metal. The name of the manufacturer is difficult to make out, only several letters are legible, R, N, Y. There is some wording visible around the outside perimeter, "Bastian Bros. Co., Rochester, NY., IREU." This button was most likely used for fundraising to build the tomb in Canton, Ohio for the assassinated President.Collection
