Description

A small photograph of the statue of President William McKinley which is situated at the foot of the stairs of the McKinley National Memorial located in Canton, Ohio. McKinley stands before his chair, his right hand in his pocket and a speech in his left hand, signifying his last speech given in Buffalo, New York, before his assassination. This statue and dome shaped monument in the background were built as a tribute to the fallen President. Construction of the monument began in June 1905 and was completed in September 1907. President and Mrs. McKinley are entombed side by side in the monument atop an altar inside the rotunda, with their two daughters resting in the walls behind. Printed on the photograph is a description that reads "PRESIDENT WILLIAM McKINLEY." This is part of a set of 10 black and white souvenir "Genuine Photographs" of President William McKinley packaged in a manilla shipping envelope.
