This ornament is part of the White House Historical Association's series of collectible ornaments. It is the twenty-fifth in the series. The ornament commemorates the first administration of Grover Cleveland, the only President to serve two non-consecutive terms and also the only President to get married in the White House. According to the insert booklet, "the historic event [wedding] os the focus of the 2006 ornament. The central illustration is a tinted reporduction of an engraving that originally appeared in 'Frank Leslie's Illustrated Magazine' depicting the bride and groom taking their vows. The gold-plated frame surrounding the engraving showcases design elements from the Clevelands' wedding certificate album. The groom's monogram, which anchors a decorative border incorporating orange blossoms from Frances Folsoms wedding gown, is incorporated on the front of the ornament, which the bride's monogram is featured on the back. The original ornament was on the tree in the Blue Room of the White House during the 2007 Christmas season. A gold cord for hanging the ornament is attached.
The ornament includes an informational insert telling about the ornament and the White House Historical Association.
The ornament is in a red box with gold designs with a white velveteen liner highlighted with gold. The lid of the box has an image of the White House along with the words "The White House Historical Association Christmas Ornament 2007" in gold lettering at the bottom of the lid. The bottom of the box is of the same red/gold design as the lid with a small white bar code near the bottom and the words "Visit www.whitehousehistory.org" in gold under the sticker.Collection
