Description

This ornament is part of the White House Historical Association's series of collectible ornaments. It is the thirty-second in the series. The ornament commemorates the administration of Herbert Hoover. According to the insert, "The 2016 White House Christmas ornament honors the Presidency of Herbert Hoover, who served from 1929 to 1933. the ornament is inspired by the fire engines that responded to the 1929 Christmas Eve fire at the White House and the toy trucks presented to children by the Hoovers the following Christmas. Crafted from shiny brass plated with nickel and 24k gold, the engine carries a decorated Christmas tree for delivery to the White House." The original ornament was on the tree in the Blue Room of the White House during the 2016 Christmas season. A gold cord for hanging the ornament is attached. The ornament includes an informational insert telling about the ornament and the White House Historical Association. The ornament is in a white box with a red border with a blue velveteen liner. The liner reads "The White House Historical Association," features the signature of Herbert Hoover and scrollwork at the corners in gold. The lid of the box features a color image of the ornament in the center. "The White House Historical Association Christmas Ornament 2016" in gold lettering appear above and below the central image. The bottom of the box is white with with a sketch of the White House near the top and a small bar code near the bottom and the words "www.whitehousehistory.org or call 1-800-555-2451 Made in the USA" in black between the sketch and the bar code. .
