This is a 2 part brass memoriam pin. The top part has a banner, measuring 1/2 in. wide x 1 1/8 in. long, with text in gold on a black background that reads "In Memory." Above and below the banner is an arched brass fan. Hanging from the top part, by a single chain link, is a commerative coin, measuring 1 1/8 in. in diameter, with an imprint of McKinley's portrait. Arched above the portrait are the words "Of Our President.' Below his portrait are the words reading "WM. McKINLEY." The edges are smooth. On the reverse side of the pin, the top part has a pin for attachment and an old accession number written on it. On the coin part is a six line inscription that reads, "Born. Jan. 29, 1843. Assassinated. Sept. 6, 1901. Died. Sept. 14, 1901.' At the bottom of the inscription is a small bow from which extends flowers, upwards toward the top in a circular pattern.Collection
