The Text reads as follows: "Ohio entered the union on March1st, 1803, but its state flage, called the Ohio burgee, was not adopted until 1903. Created by John Eisemann, the design is based on a Civil War era pennant carried by the Ohio cavalry, and is the only state flag that is not rectangular in shape. The triangular field of blue represents the hills and valleys of Ohio, while the red and white stripes symbolize the state's roads and waterways. the 13 stars grouped towards the left represent America's original 13 colonies, while the other four stars bring the total to 17, as Ohio was the 17th state to be admitted to the Union.
