10AM to 3PM
National McKinley Birthplace Memorial
40 North Main Street Niles, Ohio 44446
On October 5, 1917 The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial was dedicated with great pomp and ceremony. In honor of our centennial, a re-creation of the dedication ceremony will occur on October 14, 2017.
The day begins at 10AM with free tours of the National McKinley Birthplace Museum, in the auditorium wing of the building. This museum is the first Presidential museum.
At noon, please join us as we re-create the dedication of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial, which was originally dedicated on October 5, 1917. Guest speakers include "President" William Howard Taft, and Dorothy Butler, great-great granddaughter of founder Joseph G. Butler, Jr. Performers include the Niles High School Band, Belles and Beaux, and soloist Ethan Hess.
When the cornerstone was laid on November 20, 1915, a time capsule was placed in it. At two PM, we will open the cornerstone and time capsule. Artifacts will then be placed on exhibit in the museum.
This event is free and open to the public."Collection
