Notes found in book about Wm. McKinley (2010.1.1735a).Entry/Object ID
2010.1.2260aDescription
This is a small piece of paper torn from a page notes were written on and found inside the book, "The Illustrious Life of William McKinley" by Murat Halstead (Accession # 2010.1.1735a). On one side is hand written in script what appears to be a list of battles of the Ohio Twenty-third regiment that William McKinley participated in during the civil war. Since this is a torn section from another sheet only a partial list is visible. These are the words hand written in pencil as seen: " Ones en?; Carnifax Ferry, Sept; Princeton, W. Va., May 1?, 1862 ; Antietam, Sept. 17, 1862; raid, July 19, 1863; Cloyd's Mount, Va., May 10, 1864; Buffalo Gap, June 10, 1864; Buchanan, W. Va. Ju." The reverse side has the following hand written words in pencil: "of four...ways been so [pro] and ..ith records of this [b]e proud of their boys?
This information was probably taken from "Chapter VI. McKinley's Boyhood and Early Manhood," pages 108-128 of the book in which it was found, as it relates to the notes, these are Civil War Battles.Collection
