Description

An issue of Leslie's Weekly Illustrated, Vol. LXXXIX No. 2292. It was copyrighted by the Judge Company on 110 Fifth Avenue and published in New York on August 12, 1899. Printed at the top of the issue is "The Telling Fight of the Philippine Campaign-See Double Page. "The Bicycle Girl." The Second of Stanlaw's American Girl Series of Pictures." On the front cover there is an illustration of paper boys ripping up newspapers with the caption "The Hottest Strike of Midsummer, The newsboys of New York, who struck against the price charged by some of the one-cent newspapers, attacked the men who took their places and destroyed the boycotted newspapers- Scene on Frankfort Street, near newspaper row. There is also a photo of President McKinley on page 121.
