Description

An issue of Collier's Weekly, an illustrated journal of art, literature and current events, vol. 22 No. 24, published March 18 1899. The cover features an illustration of two men on rapids in a raft with a crowd watching, with the title "Shooting the White Horse Rapids." The caption reads, "Many adventures en route to the Klondike Gold Fields have ended the journey of life in the waters of White Horse Rapids. There is now a crude tramway built around Miles Canon and the rapids. Soon gold seekers may travel by rail to Dawson City over the road which is being pushed to completion. Printed at the top is "Manila- The Klondike- Paris- Frederic Remington in Cuba."
