Description

An issue of Leslie's Weekly Illustrated, Vol. LXXXVI No. 2231. It was copyrighted by the Arkell Publishing Company on 110 Fifth Avenue and published in New York on June 16, 1898. The front cover is an illustration of navy man with a large hat and mustache looking out over the water at two approaching ships with the title, "Foiled By The Search = Light Of The 'Texas'." The caption reads "Two Spanish torpedo-boats destroyers, creeping from under the shelter of Morro Castle, at Santiago, at midnight, to attack Commodore Schley's fleet, are promptly caught in the act and compelled to retire." The illustration was done by F.N. Blue.
