The postcard is addressed to S. Larstay Smith of Bergholz Jefferson County, Ohio. The message reads: "Hello Kid weather here is fine dont need overcoats at all Uncle said to tell you." The postmark is from Washington D.C. dated December 12, 1912.
Other information on the back reads as follows:
"Post Card NATION'S CAPITAL CHOICEST VIEWS" is the heading. "Place Stamp Here" is on the upper right corner. Under the heading the word "Messages" is on the left. The bottom left corner reads as follows: "5050--The United States Capitol is one of the largest and statliest buildings in the world. It is 751 feet in length and 350 feet in width, covering three and a half acres. The statue of Freedom on the dome towers 307 feet above the esplanade. The cornerstone was laid by President Washington in 1793; the central building was finished in 1797; and the extensions were first occupied by Congress in 1857 and 1859.
