American Naval Heroes, Admiral George Dewey, Envelope Cover, May 15, 1945.
The postmark reads, "DEWEY, ARIZ. MAY 15 1945 A.M." A three cent purple "FLORIDA CENTENNIAL, STATE OF FLORIDA, IN GOD IS OUR TRUST, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" stamp is located in the upper right hand corner with the dates 1845, 1945. Black cancellation lines run through the stamp.
The envelope is addressed to " ERNEST M. SPRANDEL, 446 FREEMAN STREET. KENDALLVILLE- INDIANA.
Surrounded by a red rope border on the left side, is a black and white sketch of Admiral George Dewey, facing right, by Walt Lupton. Below the sketch are the words, in black,
"Admiral George Dewey, U.S.N. Flagship U.S.S. Olympia - Spanish-American War, 1898. Battle of Manilla Bay, P. I. 'You may fire when you're ready, Gridley."
