Scope and Content

First Day of Issue, 25 Cent William McKinley Postage Stamp, Dec. 2, 1938. A twenty-five cent rose colored "McKINLEY 1897-1901, UNITED STATES POSTAGE" stamp is located in the upper right hand corner. Below the stamp is written, "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" Black cancellation lines run through the stamp. The postmark reads, "WASHINGTON D. C. DEC 2 1938, 9-AM. The envelope is addressed to "Mr. Charles E. Dietz, 61 Boyle Ave., Totowa Boro, Paterson, New Jersey." and is written in script. The back is plain with .50 written in pencil at the lower right hand corner.
