Scope and Content

Envelope to John H. Holl from H. Van Buren Magonigle. This was the envelope in which the letter dated April 26th, 1907 was mailed to surveyor: "John H. Holl, Esq., Room 29, New Cassilly Block, CANTON, OHIO," from architect H. Van Buren Magonigle, in regards to the McKinley Memorial nin Canton, Ohio. The envelope is type written on stationery that bears the return address: "H. VAN BUREN MAGONIGLE. ARCHITECT. 7 WEST THIRTY-EIGHTH STREET NEW YORK." The postmark states: "NEW YORK. N.Y.STA.O. APR 26 9 - P M 1907," and the wavy lines run through a red colored two cent [George] "WASHINGTON. 1732-1799. SERIES 1902. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA POSTAGE" stamp affixed to the upper right hand corner of the envelope. The back has a second postmark, with straight lines running through the bottom flap and a portion of the envelope, that reads "CANTON, OHIO. APR 27 330 PM '07."
