Scope and Content

Letter of thanks from Edward T Clark, Private Secretary, to James A. Kreitler dated July 12, 1921, for Vice President Coolidge in receipt of the photograph Mr. Kreitler took June 18, 1921, at the dedication of the bust of President Warren G. Harding at the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial in Niles, Ohio. A small newpaper clipping has been glued to the bottom left hand corner of the letter. The back has residue remaining from where it was glued to a board. The letter reads as follows: "EDWARD T. CLARK PRIVATE SECRETARY THE VICE PRESIDENT'S CHAMBER WASHINGTON July 12, 1921 Mr. James A, Kreitler, 508 E. Belmont Street Warren, Ohio. My dear Mr. Kreitler: The Vice President has asked me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of July 11, with the en- closed photograph and to thank you for sending it to him. [He is] very glad to have this memento of his trip to Niles. Very truly yours, E. T. Clark [signature]" Newspaper clipping reads: "James Kreiler of Belmont street is the pleased recipient of a letter yesterday from Vice President Coolidge, in which the Vice President thanks Mr. Kreitler for a memento photograph which was snapped on his recent visit there."
