Description

0.5 inch diameter pin in sepia, with a photo portrait of William McKinley facing left and the text "For President Maj. Wm. McKinley" in black letters surrounding portrait. There is a ssmall 1/8 inch cut across the right side of McKinley's head. The back features a torn backpaper of the Whitehead & Hoag Co. Text reads: "Whitehead & Hoag Co. Patented July 17, 1894 April 14, 1896." Since the text refers to "Major" McKinley, most likely this pin dates from the 1896 Presidential election.
