The front cover features an image of the "Oquendo" the day after its destruction with the title "Shot Almost To Pieces in Thirteen Minutes!" and the caption "The Spanish War-Vessel 'Oquendo,' of Cervera's Fleet, As It Appeared On The Morning Of July 4th, The Day After Its Destruction By Schley, After A Thirteen Minutes' Engagement-The Heat Of The Burning Vessel Was So Intense That The Paint Crumbled Into A White As." The image was copyrighted by W.R. Hearst and taken from photographs by J.C. Hemment.Collection
