An issue of Leslie's Weekly Illustrated, Vol. LXXXVII No. 2239, it was copyrighted by the Arkell Publishing Company in New York on August 11, 1898. The front cover features a photograph of Spanish soldiers in a trench with the title "How the Spaniards Fought Under Cover." and the caption "They hid in the trenches, behind barbed wire fences, where they could not be seen and could be reach only with great difficulty." The photograph was taken by J.C. Hemmet, who had two Spanish prisoners go back to the trenches for the photograph. The photograph was copyrighted by W.R. Hearst. At the top it reads "This number includes a remarkable photographic story of the Santiago Campaign."Collection
