Description

An issue of Leslie's Weekly Illustrated, Vol. LXXXVII No. 2240. It was copyrighted by the Arkell Publishing Company on 110 Fifth Avenue and published in New York on August 18, 1898. The front cover is an illustration of a Spanish sharp shooter hiding behind leaves and foliage with the title, "How the Artful Spanish Sharpshooter Conceals Himself." The caption at top reads "The Story of the War in Pictures: First Installment in This Number from Sketches and Photographs at the Front by H.C. Christy, Our Special Artist." The caption at the bottom reads, "He Covers His Head And Body With Palmetto-Leaves, So That He Cannot Be Distinguished From The Foliage While He Does His Bloody Work."
