May have been written 1886, 1887 both years when Davis was invited to join Confederate reunions in Augusta, Georgia, the invitations issued by Mrs. Charles C. Jones, Jr. (1841-90).
Davis was writing from Beauvior, his retirement home near Biloxi, Mississippi, where he lived from 1877 until his death in December 1889.
Also located in the frame is the autographed signature of Alexander H. Stephens, dated October 20, 1861. Below this signature is the "Virginia Electoral Ticket. Election November 6th, 1861." This election was for the Confederate States of America. The candidate for President was Jefferson Davis and for Vice-President was Alex H. Stephens. Both were elected.Acquisition
