Letter from McKinley to J.M Dalzell, 1892
Transcription: State of Ohio Executive Chamber, Columbus, O.

Hon. J.M. Dalzell
Caldwell, Ohio
My dear sir:
My Inability to be present at the soldier's Re-union at your place tomorrow and Friday is a matter of great regret to me. You will remember that I did not absolutely promise to come but made my promise conditional. I had intended all along on going and came down from Cleveland yesterday evening for the purpose of settling some accumulated official business; but I find I cannot arrange my affairs so as to come. I am almost overwhelmed with applications to speak and I have little or no time for myself. My inability to be present at your re-union is a disappointment to me, but it would have given me great pleasure to have come had it been within my power.
Very respectfully,
William McKinleyAcquisition
